About us

Organic vegetable growing from Neuwilen

Dünner BIO AG is a family-run organic vegetable farm in Thurgau. On around 110 hectares we grow vegetables for the Swiss market – regionally rooted, professionally organised.

What we stand for

  • Growing as a craft

Years of experience with demanding crops – from the seedbed to the store.

  • Quality that keeps

Care at harvest and in cooling decides how long vegetables stay good.

  • Regionally rooted

Neuwilen is our home and Thurgau our region – not just on paper.

  • Open to new ideas

We try new technology where it genuinely improves the work.

«Regionally rooted. Naturally grown.»

Management

Father and son

Urs and Roman Dünner run the farm together. The short paths of a family business and the demands of a production operation are not mutually exclusive – on the contrary: decisions are made where the work happens.

Six full-time staff carry the farm through the year. In the main season, up to 35 seasonal workers join the team for crop care, harvest and storage.

Production and sales

Where our vegetables go

We produce organic storage vegetables for large customers and Swiss retail. What our farm contributes is the growing: variety choice, rotation, care across the whole season, harvest at the right moment and storage that holds the quality.

A large share of the harvest goes to Rathgeb Bio. There, depending on the product, the vegetables are cleaned, washed, processed and packed, reaching retail through Coop and Migros among others. The cooperation is a division of labour: we produce the vegetables in the quality that makes such marketing possible in the first place.

Alongside that, we grow crops we market directly in part – among them Swiss organic watermelons from Thurgau.

Sustainability

Concrete rather than general

Sustainability can be claimed or shown. We show it through what actually happens on the farm.

  • Organic growing

Bud-certified production across the entire area – without synthetic chemical crop protection and without mineral nitrogen.

  • Wide crop rotation

Cereals and ley grass between the vegetable crops build humus and keep the soil healthy.

  • Weeds without herbicides

Mechanical methods, hand work and an autonomous laser weeding robot replace the chemical route.

  • Electricity from our own roof

900 m² of photovoltaics on the cold store cover around 70 per cent of the electricity the cooling requires.

  • Storing instead of hauling

Our cold store also takes in organic vegetables from the region and keeps transport distances short.

  • Short distances

Production, storage and customers lie within the same region.
